An obscure brief from a furniture designer in New Zealand who found a client in Scotland who wanted a sofa clad in thick 6mm sheet steel that was also comfortable to sit on!

The large (industrial) roller castors are normally used on hospital beds, but were necessary as the sofa was VERY heavy.

The seat was hand sprung in the normal way with individual double cone coil springs onto a wooden frame, and there was also an upholstered back (hidden under the horizontal steel sheeting) behind the loose back cushions.

It was remarkably comfortable.
