The chair looks simple but…it hides several subtle but important design details. For example, the shapes of the panels on the outside backs were carefully worked out so that they looked good from all angles. The piping was ‘sunk’ between the panels so that it finished flush rather than proud of the panels. The polished bronze base was set back which was in turn set back from the seat upholstery. Also the seat shape needed to be rounded rather than rectangular, and the arms needed to be in the right place, the right shape and not prominent. The result was a great pair of chairs on swivel bases for a luxurious superyacht.
