We have made several sofas and chaises longues based on this classic shape. The shape posed several design challenges which needed figuring out and perfecting. In particular, working out how far the seat and back should overhang the base, the angle of the back, and how far the base should be set back from the seat. Bringing these aspects together ensured the whole piece looked spot on, and had the desired visual impact. We made the bases in solid walnut.
