In conversation with Willa from Drumkilbo Designs
Willa Elphinstone BIID is one of Dudgeon's longest standing clients, with projects up and down the country that almost represent Dudgeon 'show homes'.
With a great eye for adapting our designs with simple changes such as dimension alterations, Willa even created the Medium Beaufort armchair.
Willa's furniture is most often covered in fabrics from Colefax & Fowler, Lelievre or Claremont.
How did you first hear about Dudgeon Sofas? Years ago – word of mouth, which is always the best recommendation.
Why do you choose Dudgeon Sofas to make your furniture? Because they make well made, very comfortable, traditional sofas, armchairs and pouffes.
How often do you customise your orders? Occasionally.
Is the customising successful? With Hugh’s help – yes.
Do you ever get Dudgeon Sofas to make one-off pieces? Does it work? Occasionally – again with Hugh’s help it works very well.
For how long have you been buying Dudgeon Sofas furniture? Over 28 years.
Do you send your clients to the showroom? Are they looked after? Yes - I tell Chatty and Rosie who is coming in and what they are looking for and they are always very well looked after.
What is your quirkiest project that Dudgeon has made sofas for? I think it was a couple of elderly Americans who brought a large house in North Berwick – for golfing holidays... I think we ordered 16 pieces mostly sofas!
What do you like best about Dudgeon Sofas? You get what you pay for which is a very well made comfortable, beautiful piece of furniture that you know will last a generation.
